Background

Oasis is a service for young people; it is a place where a young person can speak to someone about substance use, whether they are using a substance themselves, know someone who is using or if they are thinking about using.

OASIS staff were using a variety of different systems to record the confidential case information gathered during the course of helping these young people.  These systems included a Client database, various spreadsheets, a collection of Paper Records, and finally using another system to permit NDTMS data entry.

Being able to provide reports from this dispersed data was both complex and time consuming, and sometimes potentially inaccurate.  In particular it was proving very difficult to produce accurate  evidence to demonstrate the good results that were actually being achieved with the service clients.

Solution

Theseus TA was selected as the solution to this problem.  Not only does it provide a single system to record ALL data collected, it also provides a comprehensive and easy to use case management solution to further improve the service delivery. It does this through a carefully developed server-based, web enabled application. It provides a powerful case management system that enables managers and workers alike to effectively manage caseloads, and automatically generates a wide range of reports to improve operational effectiveness. It incorporates a robust SQL database and includes the NTA's latest NDTMS dataset thus eliminating time-consuming data entry.

After the initial training OASIS staff observed: “it makes life easier – why did we not have this two years ago?”, “Brilliant”, and “It is very easy to use”.  “What I like is how the system prompts me to do the job” “It is a genuinely paperless system – even ‘post it’ notes are no longer required” “I like how it helps me to ‘get it right’ first time.”
